Mrs. Evelyn G. Tucker

Mrs. Evelyn G. Tucker, age 84, of the South Thompson community, died Friday, March 2, in the Bethany Nursing Center after an extended illness.  She was a native of Ocilla, taught first grade for 29 years and retired from Laurens Elementary School.  She was a member of Hardens Chapel United Methodist Church where she worked with the youth and sang in the choir in various churches. Mrs. Tucker is survived by her husband, Rev. Harold Tucker of South Thompson; daughters Karen Mason and husband Tommy of Macon, Janie Sprewell and husband Dale of Birmingham, and Gill Herndon and husband Bo of Johnson's Corner; sisters Estoria Griffin of Ocilla and Earetha Reynolds of Eustis, Fla.; brothers Jack Griner and wife Shirley of Claremont, Fla. and Earl Griner of Groveland, Fla.; grandchildren Allison, Joan, Maghen, Jordie, Michael and Sky; five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services were held March 5 at Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Revs. Jarrell Lillard and Bill Lee officiating.
