Spouses’ Retreat features Christian humorist Cathy Lee Phillips 

The 2012 South Georgia Ministers’ Spouses’ Retreat, "I don’t have baggage – I have designer luggage," is set for March 16 - 18, 2012, at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island.

Featuring Christian author, speaker and humorist Cathy Lee Phillips, the retreat is designed to be a time of spiritual renewal, relaxation and fellowship for all clergy spouses.

“We’re immersed in the Word week after week in our churches, but we still hunger for spiritual renewal,” said retreat planner Mary Pat Beckum, wife of St. Luke United Methodist Church pastor Rev. Robert Beckum. “Ministers’ spouses need renewal and refreshment, too. We try so hard to support our clergy spouses and our churches, but sometimes we just need that time apart and with one another.”

With stories that are simple yet profound and humorous while presenting serious spiritual truths, Phillips uses her engaging personality, warm spirit and down-home style to present the gospel of Jesus Christ in a fresh, new way.

“We are very excited about this year’s theme,” Beckum said. “It is very inclusive and Cathy’s topic is definitely something everyone can relate to.”

In addition to times of worship, fellowship and prayer, the retreat will also include a prayer labyrinth and a silent auction.

“This is a time when people can come back together and renew friendships as well as build new ones,” Beckum said. “We hope that the churches will support the clergy spouses and encourage them to come.”

All pastor parish relations committees should have received a retreat brochure and information.
