2013 Convocation for Pastors of Black Churches set for January 9-11

12/1/2012

United Methodist Church announces the 2013 Convocation for Pastors of Black Churches to be held January 9-11, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia.

This year’s theme is “Shifting Wineskins”: Education, Adaptation and Transformation.

The Convocation for Pastors of Black Churches exists for the information, inspiration and encouragement of Pastors of Black Churches and those who support them. For over 10 years the Convocation has helped pastors:

  • Learn from renowned pastors who are recognized for their leadership in Black settings.
  • Develop strategies to aid pastoral leaders as a compliment to your annual conference response to the United Methodist Church’s “Strengthening the Black Church for the 21st Century” initiative.
  • Discover the critical needs for growth in Black churches.
  • Meet clergy who will pray for you, talk with you and support you in the journey of caring for God’s church in the Black community.

To register for the 2013 Convocation, go to http://www.convocation2013.org/register.

The Office of Connectional Ministries will offer limited scholarships for those wishing to attend.  Please contact Rev. Abra Lattany-Reed, Associate Director at abra@sgaumc.com for more information.
