Witness Team Awards
Know a pastor or lay person in the South Georgia Annual Conference who has distinguished themselves in the area of evangelism? If so then you are encouraged to submit his or her name to be nominated for the Denman Evangelism Award or the Carl and Ruth Looney Evangelism Award .
Each year, the Denman Evangelism Award recognizes both a pastor and a lay person who are effective in developing true disciples of Jesus Christ in keeping with United Methodist history and tradition. The Carl and Ruth Looney Evangelism Award recognizes a clergy person who has completed their educational requirements, is serving in a full time ministry position, and has the gifts, graces and passion for evangelism and outreach. This award includes a scholarship for continuing their education in evangelism.

Resources from the Witness Team
By All Means DVD
The By All Means DVD is a new video resource developed by the Connectional Ministries Witness Team. This training resource is intended to help congregational leaders train persons in the basics of faith sharing in today's culture. This study invited laity and clergy to revisit basic assumptions and patterns for offering invitation, hospitality, disciple-making and faith sharing. This interactive study utilizes a combination of Bible study, group discussion and video segments to focus and stimulate the conversation. Each session will last about an hour. It is suitable for existing groups or for short-term groups to be formed for this study. These resources were distributed at the set-up meetings in each district. Secret Shopper List
How friendly is your congregation? How easy is it to find the sanctuary? To help churches become more effective in these and other areas, the Conference Witness Team is providing a "Secret Shopper List." The idea behind this list is for someone from outside the church to visit on a Sunday morning with the checklist in mind and then offer an objective opinion about how the church is doing with regards to all aspects of the service (pre-service outside, pre-service inside, actual service and post service). The Witness Team is responsible for assisting churches by:
--Training and motivating growing Christians to share their faith and lead others to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior
--Sponsoring training in witnessing
--Sponsoring training in lay speaking
--Sponsoring specific events to equip our congregations to reach the unchurched in our communities with the gospel
--Intentional hospitality
