Charles Edwin “Chuck” Zimmerman, Jr., 68, Westerville, OH, died at Kobacker House on May 17, 2015. He was born on September 19, 1946 in Tifton, Georgia. Chuck graduated from Emory University in 1968, earned a M.Div. from the Candler School of Theology at Emory in 1971, and a Ph.D. from Emory in 1984. Chuck spent the last 24 years as a professor of Religion and Philosophy at Otterbein University. Doc Z loved teaching, and he had a lasting impact on many students who credit him with opening their minds and hearts. His hobbies included painting, building models of WWII planes and submarines, and gardening. He also loved to barbecue, read, watch movies, and play video games. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents Dr. Charles and Miriam Zimmerman, as well as his beloved dog, Sasha. Chuck is survived by his wife, Robin; their two children, Christopher and Melissa; a granddaughter, Madison; a sister, Theresa Arnold; and many nieces and nephews and cousins. A celebration of Chuck's life is planned for May 30, 2015 at 1 p.m. in Riley Auditorium (Battelle Hall) at Otterbein University. Full obituary and online Guest Book is available at OhioCremation.org.
