Rev. Edward Cecil Felts Sr.

The Rev. Edward Cecil Felts Sr., 79, of Tifton, died Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 21 at Omega United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Griffin, the Rev. Walter Powell, and the Rev. Danita Poston Knowles officiating. Interment followed at Omega Cemetery.

Rev. Felts was born Sept. 24, 1936, in Ellenton to the late Edward Lee and Arrie Elizabeth Powell Felts. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Sudie Spradley and Ann Rentz. He was a former resident of Omega, where he served as a city councilman and mayor. He served as a military policeman in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

Rev. Felts was former owner of Felts Garage, Omega Auto Parts and Omega Greenhouses. He was a retired Methodist minister, having served the Omega United Methodist Church and Tyson Memorial Methodist Church in Moultrie. Before becoming a pastor, he served as a lay leader. Rev. Felts enjoyed reading, fishing and growing flowers, but his true fulfillment in life was his family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara Ann Marchant Felts of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Elizabeth Ann and Charles Randall Edge, Valencia Jane and Lonnie David Scarbor and Barbara Denise and Mathew Blake Robinson Sr., all of Omega; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Edward Cecil Felts Jr. and wife Gail Rowland Felts and Samuel Lee Felts, all of Tifton; grandchildren, Jody Edge, Jennifer Edge, Melissa Hope and Matt Wall, Justin E. Felts, Michael Scarbor, Wayne “Boogie” Scarbor, Christopher and Heather Scarbor, Rebecca Felts, Austin Felts, Mathew and Haley Robinson, Daniel and Rachel Robinson and Mikayla Robinson; great-grandchildren, Desirae Edge, Destiny Edge, William Henry Scarbor, Shae Scarbor, Dustin Scarbor and Matthew Wall; and a great-great-grandson, Wyatt Williams.
