Rev. Harry Brazell died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah.
He was born March 28, 1935 at Langdale, Ala. to Lewis and Hazel Brazell. He served in the Coast Guard for four years on the Sabin Point Lighthouse in Rhode Island and aboard the Relief Light Ship out of Cape Cod. Harry received a Bachelor degree from Mercer University and a Master of Theology degree from Columbia Theological Seminary.
He served as a gospel minister for 43 years, retiring from the South Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church in 2001 and moving to Panama City Beach. Harry was a member of the Gulfview United Methodist Church, where he taught the Jubilee Sunday school class. He was a member of the Lions, Kiwanis, and Rotary clubs and the American Legion.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Hazel and Lewis Brazell of Atlanta; his wife, Joan of Franklin, Ga.; his wife Wynelle of Butler, Ga. and his son, Clay of Charleston, S.C.
He is survived by his sister, Jo Cameron of Tucker, Ga.; his daughter, Dawn Brazell of Charleston, S.C. and three grandsons, Clay, David, and Shay Seim of Charleston, S.C.
