William Langdon Peed, 96, a native of Butler, Ga., passed away Sept. 21, 2014. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 27 in Butler at Union United Methodist Church.
Rev. Peed, a WWII veteran (Air Force), served as a minister of The United Methodist Church of the South Georgia Conference for 45 years. He was predeceased by his wife Ruth (Browning), parents Frank and Eunice (Foy) Peed, infant daughter Mary Grace Peed, son-in-law Stanley Grierson, and grandchildren John Grierson and Mark Peed.
He is survived by his brother, Ferrell (Dot) of Phenix City, Ala. and six children: Donna Grierson of Kathleen, Ga.; David Peed (Dianne) of Columbus, Ga.; William Peed (Marilee) of Sussex, New Brunswick; Beth Schad (Richard) of Graniteville, S.C.; Kenneth Peed of Port Richey, Fla.; and Alan Peed (Karen) of Wilmore, Ky.. Greatly loved as “Pop-pop,” he was also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
