Tom Pruette

Thomas Newton Pruette, Jr., 81, of Quitman, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019, at South Georgia Medical Center.

Graveside rites, with military honors, were held Sunday, Feb. 24, 2019, at Westview Cemetery with the United States Honor Guard Chaplain officiating.

The United States Army Honor Guard served as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were members of the Azalea Masonic Lodge #716 of Valdosta.

Born April 14, 1937, in Valdosta, he was the son of the late Thomas Newton Pruette, Sr. and Edna Lacosta Howell Pruette. Mr. Pruette retired from the United States Army as a Master Sergeant and was associated with the State of Georgia Department of Family and Children Services. He also worked with the Moultrie Police Department for eight years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Pruette and brother, William Lee “Bill” Pruette.

Survivors include his wife, Jeri Vinson Pruette of Quitman and sister, Janet Mallow, of Valdosta.
