JOHN WESLEY MOMENTS
DAVE HANSON
Jay Jordan from St Marys, Georgia recently gave me a rare copy of the February 1751 Gentlemen’s Magazine from London, England. Buried in the small print on an inside page of this magazine was a small notice which indicated that John Wesley, Methodist preacher, had married a merchant’s widow. It did not mention the bride’s name, but did say that a certain amount was given as her dowry.
The important magazine has been donated to the
Arthur J. Moore Methodist Museum at Epworth By The Sea and may be viewed during the museum’s business hours, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
