Psalm 96, The Message

Sing God a brand-new song!
Earth and everyone in it, sing!
Sing to God – worship God!
Shout the news of his victory from sea to sea,
Take the news of his glory to the lost,
News of his wonders to one and all!
For God is great, and worth a thousand Hallelujahs.

Psalm 96 is commonly known as a royal psalm. The psalm’s command to take the news to all reminds the reader of the Abrahamic covenant in Genesis 12:1-3. In addition, the psalm anticipates the command given by Jesus Christ to the disciples to go and make disciples of all nations (Mathew 28:19-20).

How do you focus on the mission of the church in your local congregation?

What are the strengths as you engage in disciple-making efforts in your local church?

What are the areas of growth as you engage in disciple-making efforts in your local church?

May we be reminded that the mission of the church is rooted and grounded in discipleship.

Let us focus on the many ways we continue to sing a new song to God’s glory.
