The History of the South Georgia Conference was last published in 1984, and it is time for an update. When the museum staff and the members of the Archives and History Committee began discussions in regard to the updated history book, many of the details we wanted to include could already be found on the South Georgia Conference Website. Therefore, it seemed to make much more sense to include the church histories on the website, as well. This has saved a great deal of time and money and enables everyone to enjoy and utilize this information free of charge. Putting the information online also allows our staff to make any necessary changes quickly and easily so that we are able to provide the most accurate research possible. We hope that you enjoy this new feature.
If you find an error in the church histories on the website,
please contact the Moore Methodist Museum staff
and we will be happy to resolve the problem.
The Moore Methodist Museum in commissioned to have in its archives complete histories of the churches in the South Georgia Conference. You can help us by donating any historical material in your possession regarding one of these churches. Items, you may feel are of little value, can be priceless to us and used to share the legacy of your congregation with others, in addition to building the collection. We are particularly interested in records from churches that have either closed or merged, photographs, historical data, newspaper clippings, anniversary/homecoming bulletins, membership rolls and deeds, list of clergy, pictorial directories and documents relating to important events in the life of the church.
