First United Methodist Church of Brunswick Director of Children’s Ministries First United Methodist Church of Brunswick, GA is looking for a part time (15 Hours per week) Director of Children’s Ministries. The person holding this position will be responsible for all aspects of ministry as it relates to Children ages Infant through 5th Grade, including developing relationships with the parents or guardians of the Children involved in our ministry to and with them. The Director of Children’s Ministries should: Be able to articulate a genuine Faith in Jesus Christ Express an understanding of God’s call upon him/her to minister to children Be well organized Be able to work well as a part of a team of other professionals Exhibit strong communication skills Education: At least a Bachelor’s degree in an area that compliments the work (Elementary Education, Communications, etc.) or working toward a degree. Salary: Based on Experience and Education Supervising Body: Staff Parish Relations Committee with direction from the Deacon Duties and Responsibilities In partnership with staff and Children’s Ministry Volunteer Leadership, creates vision for the the overall children’s program at First United Methodist Church Sets goals and objectives for fulfilling that vision Create a Budget Oversee and equip a team of paid and volunteer, Safe Sanctuary trained staff that provides leadership for children’s ministry including, but not limited to Nursery and Child Care Sunday School Children’s Worship Participation of Children in the 11:00 Worship Service First Friends Missional Programs Music and the Arts Vacation Bible School Special Events (Fall Festival, Christmas, Easter, etc.) Recruit, Train, Deploy, and Appreciate Volunteers that will help meet our goals and objectives Assess and order curriculum and supplies that is consistent with United Methodist teaching Ensure that necessary literature, materials and supplies are available Work closely with clergy and Director of Youth Ministries to develop a Confirmation program Supervise the Nursery Coordinator Ensure that Visitors are welcomed and directed to the proper classrooms Ensure that all parents/guardians know that their children are Safe Loved Receive proper care A valued part of the congregation’s life and ministry Becomes the “Face” of First United Methodist Church’s connection with children in the community Utilizes all tools (Bulletin, Newsletter, Text, Phone, Facebook, Website, other Social Media) properly in communication of our love for children The Director of Children’s Ministries must be able to pass necessary background checks as required by our church and the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
