Director of Youth Ministry and Director of Evangelism and Communication Full-time (40 Hours a Week) Positions Summary: Director of Youth Ministry: Design, develop and execute all aspects of youth ministry from 6th grade through 12th grade within Clarkesville First United Methodist Church. Manage all paid and volunteer staff ensuring complete excellence in the love, care and spiritual growth of youth. Director of Evangelism and Communication: Design, develop and execute three main areas: Evangelism and reaching new members; Member assimilation and spiritual gift development and Communication and publicity. General Duties: Director of Youth Ministry • Strong Commitment to excellence and sold out to the mission, purpose and vision of Clarkesville First United Methodist Church and the UMC Discipline • Ongoing assessment and development and execution of all Youth ministry areas with primary focus on activities that support the family unit within our community • Work very closely with Children and Adult ministry staff and volunteer leaders ensuring a cohesive and consistent approach to family ministry • Provide a loving, caring and accountable environment that leads students to discover and develop a real relationship with Jesus • Offer age-appropriate activities and study for a separate Senior Youth group (grades 9-12) and Junior Youth (grades 6-8) program • Sunday evening’s activities • Wednesdays 6:30 pm bible studies • Outside time for special activities, preparation and planning • Develop age appropriate camps, events, retreats and mission opportunities • Assists the Senior Pastor in Confirmation Classes • Identify, recruit, train and encourage volunteers ensuring for all areas of youth ministry for all events/programs • Ensure church’s Safe Sanctuaries policies are adhered to at all times to protect safety of the youth • Develop and support youth and adult leadership teams that take responsibility for aspects of the youth ministry • Participate in community life of youth (i.e. FCA, football games, concerts, etc) • Educate and promote to the church community the opportunities, purpose, and importance of Youth ministry • To maintain a yearly Youth Events Calendar to be updated quarterly and promote these events through various church communications • Be an outreach for youth and their families when needs are apparent • Attend weekly staff meetings • Offer complete support and trust to entire church staff promoting an environment of ‘oneness’ all working together towards the same ultimate goal of life transformation though a personal relationship with Jesus Christ • Responsible for development of annual budget and management to ensure spending stays within the parameters of financial planning including the management of accounts receivable and accounts payable within the youth ministry area • Establish class and retreat for our Confirmation Students • Other duties as assigned Director of Evangelism and Communications • Evangelism and reaching new members • Develops a plan to publicize and promote the church • Develops a method of discovering new prospects/new residents • Organizes classes/seminars on what membership means • Manages the system of follow up to guests • Develops and manages witnessing program to the lost • Member assimilation and spiritual gift development • Develops and manages a new member orientation program • Helps make sure there is a follow-up once people have joined • Connects new and existing members to the various groups and ministries • Helps both new and existing members discover their spiritual gifts • Plans seminars and training events for volunteers • Communications and publicity • Oversees the entire process of communicating all activities and events ? Enhances and expands our existing systems of communication • Develops multiple forms of social media for communication • Develops and manages publicity and news releases • Develops and manages both ongoing and special advertising campaigns • This person should know that he/she is expected to become involved with the Clarkesville Downtown Development Authority and the Habersham Chamber of Commerce • Coordinate regular communication through radio programming and written pieces for the local newspaper and online publications, such as Now Habersham • Has an outgoing personality which allows him/her to meet the public easily Required Skills and Abilities: • High School Graduate • Attended at least 2 Years of College • Demonstrates good communication and organizational skills, leadership skills, initiative and interpersonal skills in relating to youth and adults. • Possess general knowledge of teenage behavior along with a large dose of patience. Must demonstrate a professional and Christian character in a manner that reflects credibility in the ministry and inspires a faith-based lifestyle. • Satisfy requirements of Safe Sanctuary Certification • Experience with youth ministry • Knowledge of Web design, Excel, Word and internet explorer applications • Experience using multiple components of Social Media ( ie Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) in a work environment
