Toccoa First UMC is seeking a full-time Music Director. The ultimate purpose of this position is to glorify God through music and choose music that will allow the congregation to connect and grow in the Lord through worship. This will include overseeing the music ministry of the church, plan and coordinate music for worship and special services.
Spiritual Gifts and Qualifications: An undergraduate degree in Music and/or equivalent experience; Training and/or experience in conducting choirs and instrumental groups; Familiar with all types of worship styles including traditional and contemporary; Embrace the Methodist doctrine and theology with a maturity in Christian faith
Job Responsibilities: Must be able to identify, attract, and retain volunteers for participation in the music program with good interpersonal skills to fulfill the musical needs of the church; Must be able to manage a church music program, music library, music program budget including the purchase of music, supplies, payment of special musicians, and maintenance of all church-owned instruments; Must be available, present, and punctual for worship services (11:00 am on Sunday a must) and scheduled rehearsal times during the week, and weekly staff meetings; Plan, oversee, attend, and direct or supervise the music programs of the church which includes, but not limited to, Chancel Choir, Chancel Bells, children and youth choir programs (with volunteers), special services (Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, choir festivals, funerals, weddings) and other events of the Church as necessary; Assist pastoral staff in the pastoral care of the music ministry volunteers; Hours: 35+ a week including nights and weekends (Sunday 11:00 am worship a must), as needed; Maintain confidentiality; Other responsibilities as assigned
