Meditation Focus: Colossians 2:6b-7
“…you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grown down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”
Prayer of the Month
God of life, we give thanks to you for offering yourself to us through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through your abundant grace and love you have grafted us into your branches, rooting us in your presence. Thank you for offering yourself to us simply because you love us.
We thank you for the many ways in which you have instructed and grown our faith. You have laid foundations through the lives, actions, and words of the apostles and saints of our history books and photo albums. You inspired them to write, preach, pray, and teach about the intricate ways your love is and has been available to us. Their witness has taught us to cultivate a faith that thrives upon the truth that you offer grace upon grace to all creation.
Through your Holy Spirit, help us to remember that abundant love and grace in times of hardship and discord. Help us to cling to those roots that ground our every step in Jesus Christ, every step that brings us closer to the realization of your Kingdom--both present reality and future hope.
Instill in us an attitude of thanksgiving that permeates our every thought, word, and deed. May it be evident to all we encounter that our lives are lived with this attitude because you first loved us.
Let us as a denomination and movement live into this posture of thanksgiving as we seek your direction. May we interact in ways that show a thankfulness for one another and the gifts each of us have been given by you. May we connect with each other through the mutual love we have for you as our Creator, Savior, and Friend.
In your Holy Name we pray,
Divine Wisdom (inhale)
Be our Guide (exhale)
