Sunday in Purple, sponsored by South Georgia's United Methodist Women, is a day to focus on increasing awareness of domestic violence in the United States and to be in solidarity with our sisters in South America where domestic violence often involves horrific murders. October is domestic violence awareness month in the U.S., and purple is its color. You are encouraged to wear something purple on Sunday, Oct. 27 (a ribbon or other item), take a photo, and send it to firstname.lastname@example.org, or text it to 229-868-0381. Get your congregation to participate! Ask your pastor to include a special prayer for domestic violence victims and those trying to combat it. Download a bulletin insert.
