These packets contain pension forms, tax forms, and insurance forms needed whenever a pastor moves to a new church. Instructions guide you on what is returned to the Administrative Services office, what gets sent to Wespath, and what is retained by the local church treasurer or payroll person. These forms have due dates which need to be honored; the due dates relate to the tax status of the pastor's compensation, and so need to be enacted prior to the pastor receiving their first paycheck.
The pastor will also need to complete a new compensation form using the church dashboard. Contact your district office if you do not know how to do that. You get the login for your new church from the pastor currently serving the church. Once you login in to that church's dashboard, you will have access to your new compensation form.
If you have any questions on how to complete these forms, do not hesitate to call Eleanor or Derek in the Administrative Services office. (478-738-0048)
You will also need a new Housing Allowance form. Filling in housing on the compensation form does not meet IRS standards for establishing a housing allowance; filling out a resolution and having it passed by your governing board does. You can get the housing allowance resolution here.
If you are a lay supply pastor or a certfiied lay minister (you have not yet attended License To Preach school), you do not yet meet the IRS standard to be considered clergy. That means that you cannot use the Housing Allowance. It also means that you are a regular church employee, and the church must withhold income tax and social security tax from your paycheck.
