The 2013 Bishop’s Hour with Bishop James King, Jr., episcopal leader of the South Georgia Conference, is set for Sunday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

New for 2013, the event will be live streamed. Each district will have several host church locations where the live feed will be shown, and anyone with an Internet connection will be able to watch it live.

Designed to be an intentional time for Bishop King to share his message with each district’s laity and clergy, the Bishop’s Hour will now be a more efficient use of resources and will reach more South Georgia United Methodists than ever before.

This year’s Bishop’s Hour will include a time of singing followed by a teaching session. Bishop King’s message this year will focus on an update on the transition work to form the six new districts, sharing information about Project Turnaround, and a brief sending forth message with the hope that the South Georgia Conference will continue to move forward with great expectations.

Bishop King instituted the Bishop’s Hours in 2009 with very positive feedback from laity and clergy.

“I see the Bishop’s Hour as an opportunity to highlight the values of faith, provide a teaching moment on the mission of the church and encourage clergy and laity to remain strong in the faith as disciples of Jesus Christ,” Bishop King said. “I am excited about the method of communicating across the conference through live streaming. The hope is to connect with more and more Methodists across the Conference as we continue to grow a Christlike world.”
