It’s appointment-making season in The United Methodist Church, and last week Bishop Bryan and the Appointive Cabinet met for several days to pray, worship, and begin the decision-making process of appointments. The 2019-2020 appointment-making schedule is available here.
“Each year as we approach the appointment-making season, I always do it with a sense of freshness, because every year it is fresh and a bit different … but we are all in this together,” said Bishop Bryan in a video. “I want to remind us, as we approach appointment-making season, of our vision: that we want to be Alive Together in Christ, as Paul says in Ephesians.”

The Appointive Cabinet will meet regularly now through the first week of April to make decisions and to prayerfully seek God’s guidance. Throughout the process District Superintendents will continue to be in conversation with congregations and clergy.
In the video, Bishop Bryan said that he does not anticipate the special called session of General Conference impacting South Georgia’s appointment-making process.
“We know how to do this process, and it has served us well,” he said.
It is anticipated that appointments will be released to local churches Sunday, April 7 and to the public, via the Conference website, that afternoon.
