A Word from Bishop Graves: The postponement of General Conference

3/7/2022

On March 3, 2022, the Commission on General Conference announced plans to further postpone the General Conference session of The United Methodist Church to 2024. You can find the full announcement here. In addition, you will find these FAQs helpful. I invite you now to watch this video response as I share my thoughts on the postponement.

In the days ahead there will be much information shared about General Conference and the implications of a postponed General Conference. As your bishop, I commit to leading you with a spirit of fairness, transparency, and integrity as together we listen to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Today I ask you to join me in focusing our commitment to strengthening every local church, where the word is preached and Christ is offered, and where the table is set before all who hunger and thirst for righteousness. May we be confident in the prayer we have learned to say and share, “By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world, until Christ comes in final victory and we feast at his heavenly banquet.”

In Christ,

Bishop David Graves
