At this year’s KidzQuest retreat, set for Sept. 27-29 at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island, students will be trained, prepared and equipped in Bible basics.
Designed for students in the third through sixth grades, this annual children’s retreat promises to encourage kids to “be all they can be - in Christ!"
This year’s event, with the theme, “Bible Bootcamp!” will help kids learn how to defend their faith and how to share God’s love with others. The weekend’s theme verse, from 1 Corinthians 16:13, focuses on being strong in the faith: “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13 NIV)
“We are getting ‘back to the basics’ with Bible Bootcamp and learning about the importance of God's word in each of our lives,” said Allison Lindsey, associate director of Connectional Ministries. “From high energy worship, games, Bible study, church time and free time for our church groups, this retreat offers a chance to get away and experience our awesome God. What better way to experience the connection than with 500 kids and adults from all across South Georgia. This event is a highlight for me each year!”
Worship leader Brent Weber will lead students into God’s presence with his energetic and interactive songs. A gifted children's and family worship leader and entertainer, Weber brings laughter, reflection, excitement and energy in experiencing Chris. He presents an engaging experience while combining interactive music, crazy stage games, concert devotionals, and even illusions in a way that captivates both kids and adults.
KidzQuest favorite Brandon Rushin, also known as “Sgt. Major B” will emcee and entertain and delight attendees. He brings an energetic and contagious personality and his interactive and fun characters leave a lasting impression.
Jesse Joyner, a master juggler and a captivating storyteller, will lead a program called “From Creation to the Cross.” With experience as a children's pastor, Joyner is adept at teaching the Gospel in levels of understanding that are fun and memorable.
“Again this year we have on-line resources for churches to use for church time and quiet time that complement our theme and scripture for the weekend, or churches can plan their own,” Lindsey said. “This retreat fills up fast so be sure and get your registration in early.”
