Congratulations, South Georgia!

FROM THE BISHOP
JAMES R. KING, JR.

Hello, beautiful people of South Georgia!

We have more than 1,000 CLUs – Christlike Love Units – in the South Georgia Conference, and we continue to grow each day.

Last fall during the 2012 Bishop’s Hour, a goal was set to have 100 CLUs in each district by December 1, 2013. Nine districts have reported 1,055 new CLUs in South Georgia – yeah! Our promise is to celebrate and give thanks to God for this new beginning.

Thank you for your faithfulness, South Georgia.

A CLU has a special mission: to center the believer weekly in a meaningful experience with Jesus Christ through a small group. A CLU is also designed to enable believers to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ while witnessing to others.

If you would like to start your own CLU, ask for instructions from your District Superintendent or purchase my CLU book through Cokesbury or by visiting www.bishopking.org.

Praise God and give thanks. We are on our way. Let’s continue to grow a Christlike world!

Look for Jesus

As Christians, every moment of every day is an opportunity to witness as disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus lives through those who believe. We are in a season when our antennas are especially high as we look for Jesus to be born anew during this Advent season. Jesus is the clearest picture in flesh that we have of God, who is Spirit. In order to see Jesus in the physical world, we must look for him through spiritual lenses. Galatians 5:22-23 is our best guide.

Give Thanks!

If you find yourself feeling stressed during this time of the year, start giving thanks! In Nehemiah chapter nine we find one of the longest prayers in the Bible. This prayer is filled with confession that leads to thanksgiving. I am thankful for you and always give praise to God for our ministry together.

Growing a Christlike world is as easy as ABC:

    A.  Disciple Plan – Ten Timeless Values

    B.  Project Turnaround – Focus on Stewardship and Evangelism

    C.  Five Star Loving Accountability System (LAS).

Communicating is not a one-way street

Today, communicating the gospel is not a one-way street. Rather, it is more like a two way, multiple-lane turnpike. Many techniques are now available to reach people with the gospel. Because our culture is filled with information overload, how we communicate and where we communicate will make all the difference in the world.

Visit our Conference website – www.sgaumc.org – to keep up with what is going on around the South Georgia Conference. Our Connectional Ministries staff is ready to assist you in communicating more effectively. You are also invited to join me as I share plans, ideas, photo experiences and encouragement. Follow me as I tweet at www.twitter.com/BishopJamesKing or visit my blog at www.bishopking.org.

Until next time, remember – God’s will for us is good. We must do the rest.

Growing a Christlike World

With love,

Your Bishop,
James R. King, Jr.
