Multi-cultural luncheon - Jan. 16
The South Georgia Conference’s Advocacy Team will host an inaugural Multicultural Luncheon on Monday, Jan. 16, 2017. The luncheon will take place at ConneXion UMC in Savannah. The event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Stacey Harwell-Dye, Chairperson of the Advocacy Team, will provide the keynote address. This event is open to all congregations. The purpose of the Multicultural Luncheon is to celebrate the gifts that God has provided in the South Georgia Conference through our local churches. Click here to register. The Moore Methodist Museum invites everyone to participate in its Historic Preservation Workshop, scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 26 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. This program is ideal for church historians, community historians, or anyone looking to preserve family history. Activities will include instruction on preservation and archiving techniques, tutorials on displaying artifacts, a tour of the museum, and a lecture from Rev. Dave Hanson. Sexual Ethics Workshop at Camilla UMC – Feb. 4
The Saturday, Feb. 4 Sexual Ethics Workshop will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Camilla United Methodist Church. According to the Conference Sexual Ethics policy, this workshop is required every three years for any person serving under appointment by the bishop (clergy, local pastors, extension ministers, appointed lay speakers). Join the Journey Confirmation Retreat – March 3-5
Designed for students in the fifth grade and above, the “Join the Journey” Confirmation Retreat will provide churches of all sizes an opportunity to connect with others through worship, study, and fellowship. The event will also include large group gatherings around the church seasons and breakout sessions with topics of grace, United Methodist History and United Methodist lingo as well as Holy Clubs throughout the weekend. Not meant to be the only confirmation youth go through, the Confirmation Retreat should be complimentary to what a church is or will be doing.
