Akin Memorial UMC Revival – Oct. 25-28
Akin Memorial UMC will host a revival Oct. 25-28. The revival will begin with a trunk or treat and a dinner at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25. Rev. Jim Rush will preach at 7 p.m. He will also preach at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26, and at 7 p.m. on both Monday, Oct. 27 and Tuesday, Oct. 28. Special music by the church choir and special guest singers will round out the revival.
Eagles’ Fall Retreat – Oct. 27-29
The Eagles, better known as the retired ministers and spouses of the South Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church, are gearing up for their annual Fall Retreat. Set for October 27-29 at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island, the retreat will be a wonderful time of renewal, reconnecting, and rediscovery. Dr. Bob Bone, a retired pastor in the North Georgia Conference, will lead the retreat. Fred Foster will lead silent and live auctions. Day of Study in the Southwest District – Nov. 1
From 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, the Southwest District will host a Day of Study in the District. Rev. Dr. Loyd Melton, the John Montgomery Bell Professor of New Testament and the Director of the Doctor of Ministry Program at Erskine Theological Seminary, will lead a study of the gospel of Mark. Lunch will be provided. The cost for the day will be $10. Registration is required. Please call (229-273-3119) or email the district office at firstname.lastname@example.org to register. There will be four locations. Please make sure you specify your location when you call to register. The money for the day will be taken at the door. Porterfield UMC in Albany will be the primary location. Additional locations will be Moultrie First, Thomasville First, and Friendship UMC in Donalsonville. Dr. Melton will be at Porterfield. The other locations will be streamed live.
Wesleyan College Sunday – Nov. 9

Encounter – Nov. 14-16
Set for Nov. 14-16 at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island, Encounter is a weekend retreat designed for students in grades six through 12. Wesley Glen Ministries’ Holiday Bazaar – Nov. 15
Wesley Glen Ministries will host their annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 15, 2014, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Life Skills Center. The event will feature local vendors, independent sellers, craft items, baked goods, and snack bar. Rain or Shine! Booths available for lease. United Methodist Student Day – Nov. 30
The Student Day Special Sunday Offering helps provide funds for scholarships and loans for United Methodist students. Student Day gifts make a real difference for those who hope to attend college. Ninety percent (90%) of the offering goes toward funding the many scholarships and loans administered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (www.gbhem.org) and ten percent (10%) stays within our state and goes to Georgia UM-related schools for merit scholarships.
