Building Community In and Outside the Church: An Asset Based Approach Webinar – Feb. 4
On Tuesday, Feb. 4 at 10 a.m., Rev. Stacey Harwell will present the “Building Community In and Outside the Church: An Asset Based Approach” webinar. Where some may see a dry and barren land, God's great abundance is dwelling.  An asset based approach looks at the glass half full and wonders what are the gifts of the community and how can we create an economy of gift. This approach is for everyone and every church: poor or rich, big or small. It can help relieve you of the question "How can we get these things done?" or "Why aren't we getting any volunteers?" and instead say "How can we facilitate this person's dreams for their work in the world?" You will find that people's dreams and the church's needs often match up.  In the places where dreams and needs do not match, ministries that aren't life giving may need to sunset.  By asking questions of what the local passions are, we will avoid falling into the trap of doing something that nobody really wants to do. In this seminar, we'll skim some of the basics of Asset Based Community Development and talk about how one church in Macon is using this in their church and their local community to build relationships no one ever could have dreamed of before! By the end, you'll have a sample gift inventory for your church and a guide to asset mapping your community. Register here or contact Allison Lindsey at for more information.
