Important changes made to Local Pastors' Licensing School
Changes have been made to the South Georgia Local Pastors’ Licensing School.
The Conference is partnering with the North Georgia Annual Conference and the Emory University Course of Study School to provide a combined licensing school for both conferences. Instead of operating independent schools, the two conferences will work together to train local pastors making use of the faculty, facilities, and resources of Emory University and its Course of Study Program.
The first session of the newly combined school will be held May 15-24, 2015, at Emory University. (This replaces the school typically held during the last week of February at Epworth By The Sea.) Students will reside in the dorms like Course of Study students. The cost for a week of intensive instruction and room and board is $500.
The school is open only to certified candidates. To be eligible to attend the May session a person must be a certified candidate by March 20, 2015. The registration deadline for the May session is March 31, 2015 (a change from the Jan. 13 deadline originally published). Registration forms must be signed by the District Superintendent of the district that certified the candidate and by Dr. Jay Harris, Director of Ministerial Services. The signed and completed registration form and the $500 registration fee must be received by Emory before March 31. This will secure housing reservations and allow time for pre-work assignments to be completed.
A link to the registration form will be provided as soon as it is developed.
