The congregation at Kingsland First United Methodist Church has a heart for missions. When they saw members of their community struggling to feed themselves, a cadre of dedicated volunteers went to work. They cleared out a space and opened a food pantry (two days a week) serving those in need. As the need for food grew, so did the service. The food pantry crew now distributes food three days a week. They minister not only to the physical bodies of those they encounter, but also to their spiritual needs through prayer, kindness, and a listening ear.
Recently, Ricky Rupp, a member of the congregation, was moved by the Holy Spirit to plant a garden to grow produce for food pantry families. He shared his vision and, once again, a group of volunteers came together to till the ground and plant a large garden. Plants are already popping out of the soil! The produce from the garden will be harvested and given to pantry families to provide fresh nutritious food.
