In a video played during the 2021 Annual Conference session, Conference Lay Leader J. Knapp, a member of Thomasville First United Methodist Church, introduced the new South Georgia Laity Cabinet.
Made up of the six district lay leaders, the director of Connectional Ministries, the director of Communications, and the conference lay leader, the group meets monthly with Bishop Bryan to learn, talk, plan, and represent the Conference’s laity.
“The laity are not part of the church. The laity ARE the church, and we are to be partners in ministry with our clergy whose role it is to teach, train and equip us so that we, the laity, may go out as the hands and feet of Christ, carrying his light into the darkness and his healing into a broken world,” Knapp said in the video. “John Wesley knew this and wholeheartedly supported it.”
