Our pastor here at Utmost United Methodist Church, Rev. Mostly Wright, fell off a ladder during the “Hanging of the Greens.” His right arm is broken in two places. Due to the nature of the fall, 911 was called and he was whisked away to the hospital.
Fortunately, he had no internal injuries, but he had a concussion and his right arm is out of commission for at least six weeks. Since Rev. Wright is right handed, this seriously limits many of his routine functions – using the computer, driving, etc. Therefore he will have to lean heavily on, Barry Tone, our music director.
Rev. Wright announced to staff that his doctor told him to dramatically reduce his workload on Christmas Eve. “Which means that I can only lead one of our Christmas Eve services, the one with the children, where we have no Holy Communion,” he said. “The doctor told me that I need to give my noggin light duty, and not overdo it with my arm at Holy Communion.”
The staff fully supported his announcement. Barry nearly had apoplexy when Rev. Wright asked him to deliver the Christmas Eve sermon, but being the trooper he is, he agreed to do so.
Until next time,
