A celebration of life memorial service for Ruthanne Shockley Key, age 89, was held on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015, at First United Methodist Church, Dublin. Georgia. Ruthanne passed from this life on Aug. 25, 2015. Her final resting place will be at Evergreen United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Key was born on March 5, 1926 in Indiana. She attended Asbury College in Wilmore, Ky., where she met her beloved husband, Rev. Jack Key. They celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary in December 2014.
She is survived by three children, Evangeline Key Walmsley, Stanley M. Key, and Christina Key Whitworth; 12 grandchildren; and numerous in-loves and great-grandchildren. The two have become 45!
Ruthanne and Jack served in ministry together in the South Georgia United Methodist Church Conference for 41 years. After retirement they taught conversational English in China for a year, pastored the only English-speaking Protestant church in Ecuador for a year, judged the English Olympics in Outer Mongolia, and taught Sunday school.
They were often seen around Dublin visiting the sick or eating in their “breakfast clubs.” Rarely was one seen without the other, usually holding hands.
