Nominations process for Conference and District leadership underway
It is time to begin identifying nominees for Conference and District boards, committees, and teams that will serve for the 2016-2020 quadrennium.
You are invited to indicate your willingness to serve or to encourage possible leaders to complete the online Interest Form.
Between now and Feb. 2, the South Georgia Annual Conference will accept online interest forms from all laity and clergy interested in serving on Conference and District boards, committees, and teams.
“In the past, clergy and laity have had the opportunity to declare their interest in serving,” said Dr. Jay Harris, Conference Secretary. “We hope that providing an online form this time will make it more convenient for people to respond.”
The South Georgia Conference is looking for resourceful and committed leadership who have vision, leadership skills, and a passion for the work of the particular board or committee on which they are interested.
Pastors, district superintendents, district nominating committees, and laity can help with the process by recruiting and identifying persons in local churches who should submit an interest form for leadership on the conference and district levels.
“This process will help the Conference and District nominations committees match people and their interests, gifts, and graces with the various opportunities to serve on the district and conference level,” Dr. Harris said.
Steps in the leadership selection process are:
I. IDENTIFICATION: Indicate your interest(s) by completing and submitting the online interest form available through the link below. Note that this is the sole means being made available to indicate interest in serving. Feb. 2, 2016, is the deadline for submitting interest forms.
II. NOMINATION: The District Committee on Nominations will receive and evaluate interest forms and coordinate the nominations process with the Conference Committee on Nominations. The Conference Committee on Nominations will submit a slate of nominees (committee and board chairs and members) to the 2016 Annual Conference. If you are already serving on a committee or board and wish to be removed, please email your desire to the Conference Secretary, Dr. Jay Harris (firstname.lastname@example.org).
III. ELECTION: The annual conference will elect the leadership team for the 2016-2020 Quadrennium at the annual conference session in June 2016.
IV. SERVING: The newly elected conference leaders will begin July 1, 2016.
