South Georgia Conference joins Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty

In 2015, The South Georgia Annual Conference joined the Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty. The campaign seeks to bring awareness to the justice issues children are facing at home and around the world.

“We are excited to be a part of this effort and will encourage our local churches in the South Georgia Conference to learn about the campaign,” said Rev. Denise Walton, Assistant to the Bishop for Connectional Ministries. “In 2016, the South Georgia Conference will invite all of our churches to participate in the National Observance of Children’s Sabbath.”

The upcoming National Observance of Children’s Sabbaths is an ideal opportunity for churches in the Pan-Methodist Campaign for Children in Poverty to connect with each other and with places of worship across the country as we lift a united voice of concern and renew our commitment to end child poverty.

Dr. Luther E. Smith, Jr., Professor Emeritus of Church and Community, Candler School of Theology serves as the Program Coordinator for the Pan-Methodist Campaign.
