On Saturday, October 15, United Methodist Women from around the conference will gather together to celebrate 39 years of mission work in South Georgia and around the world.
Meeting at Macon’s Vineville United Methodist Church under the theme, “Finding Peace in a Busy World,” this year’s annual meeting and celebration will feature the work of the Vashti Center in Thomasville, Ga., one of the South Georgia mission agencies supported by the Women’s Division.
Cathy Snook, Vashti’s director of development, will present the agency’s new focus of intervention and counseling, and will be assisted by a special mystery guest.
“The Vashti Center continues to evolve with changing times, and we are excited about the many possibilities of ministry that we are called to do,” Snook said.
The UMW annual meeting will begin with the traditional procession of presidents and will include the vocal rendition of “Standing Before Us,” sung by Mary Crowson. There will be special music and singing during the worship session, followed by the business session, presided over by UMW president, Sara Bankhead. The meeting will adjourn at about 12:30 p.m., following a service of Holy Communion. A lunch will be provided by the Vineville United Methodist Women.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and will allow time for browsing in the mission resource room and viewing of the displays. The meeting will begin at 10 a.m.
