UMVIM team leader training to be held Nov. 9

11/4/2013

Do you have a passion to serve, lead and learn?

Are you interested in leading a mission team, but don't know where to start?

An UMVIM (United Methodist Volunteers in Mission) team leader training will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dawson United Methodist Church.

UMVIM, SEJ, is the short-term mission sending agency of the Southeastern Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. UMVIM exists to promote, encourage, and enable Christians to exemplify “Christian Love in Action” through short-term mission service at home and abroad.

UMVIM team leader training participants will receive information on preparing an UMVIM team for service, including such topics as effective project selection, spiritual development, cultural sensitivity for teams, logistics, and finance.

Included in the $30 registration fee is the UMVIM Team Leader Handbook and lunch.  This training is open to all United Methodists and satisfies training requirements for leading an UMVIM team. For more information, contact Allison Lindsey at allison@sgaumc.com or (912) 393-5524.

Participating in the training does not obligate you to lead a team, but will help you understand the fundamentals of team leadership and will enrich any future Mission experiences you have. You will also gain ideas on places around the world where you can serve. This training is also great for teams interested in serving both domestically and internationally.
