The United Methodist Women of the South Georgia Conference will host their annual Spiritual Growth Retreat March 25-27 at Epworth By The Sea on St. Simons Island.
Coming together under the theme of “Summoned by Christ,” retreat participants will hear speaker Rev. Marcia Cochran, Waycross District Superintendent, bring inspiration and motivation to the group during the retreat’s sessions. They will also have opportunities on Saturday to participate in two interest groups.
“This retreat comes at a time of year when I need to be refreshed and renewed,” said UMW president Sara Bankhead. “The Spiritual Growth Retreat gives me the opportunity to get with other United Methodist Women and others to fellowship together, be spiritually filled by the speaker and have a learning experience. It’s a renewal time for me.”
The retreat, open to anyone interested in participating, has become an intergenerational weekend, with all ages represented and encouraged to attend. Two special interest groups are specially designed for young adult and teen participants. Other special interest groups include “Hooked on Love,” a group for those interested in making prayer shawls; “Body Prayer;” and “In His Step.”
Beginning with registration on Friday afternoon, March 25 and ending after lunch on Sunday, March 27, the retreat is designed to help participants grow in spirit and in truth.
Retreat participants have the opportunity to bring items to benefit three South Georgia Conference mission agencies: Wesley Community Center, Open Door Community House and Vashti Center. There will also be free time for attendees to enjoy fellowship with one another and the beauty of Epworth By The Sea.
“We hope that the women who come will be spiritually uplifted and get a renewal of their spiritual life,” Bankhead said.
