After a storm strikes, you may be looking for a way to support those affected. The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) assists victims of natural and man-made disasters all over the world. The South Georgia Conference is collecting UMCOR hygiene, school, and cleaning kits at a central location for distribution within our conference and surrounding areas - wherever they are needed the most. These supplies enable people to begin the overwhelming job of cleaning up after a flood or hurricane.
Cleaning buckets, hygiene kits, and school kits can be dropped off during the hours of 9 a.m. and noon, Monday through Thursday. Prior to delivery, contact Crossroads UMC at (478) 987-3721 or by email: Margaret Hanner (crumc@ perrycrossroads.org) or Lori Hardy (lhardy@perrycrossroads.org) to coordinate. Luis Morales, Conference Disaster Response Coordinator (morhilll@gmail.com), also asks that he be notified so he can keep a log of the kits.
Health kits and school kits should be packaged in sturdy boxes with the type and the number of kits clearly marked on the outside of the box. Please make sure cleaning bucket lids are securely in place for transport.
Funds should not be included with the kits, but sent directly to the Administrative Services Office, PO Box 7227; Macon, GA 31209 and noted for UMCOR Material Resources.
