Celebrating over 75 years in ministry, The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to alleviating human suffering around the globe. UMCOR provides humanitarian relief and disaster response in the United States and internationally/ Efforts are targeted in places where natural disasters, war, or conflict have done so much damage that communities are unable to recover on their own. As the humanitarian relief and development arm of The United Methodist Church, UMCOR transforms and strengthens people and communities.
UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community's ability to recover on its own. Through UMCOR, United Methodists extend loving care to people within the US, as well as internationally: in Africa, Asia, Central and South American and the Caribbean. These beneficiaries are seen as partners, not victims, and UMCOR works to empower them. Wherever possible, UMCOR cooperates with other aid organizations to extend its reach.
U.S.- When responding to a disaster in the United States, UMCOR provides the following four things at the invitation of the bishop's office in the affected area: volunteer training, financial assistance, expertise and networking. To give to US Disaster Response click here.
International: When a natural or human-caused disaster strikes outside of the United States, UMCOR serves as the primary channel for United Methodist Assistance. To give to International Disaster Response click here.
Health kits, sewing kits, school kits, bedding kits, birthing kits and cleaning buckets are collected by generous donors across the United States. These items are then sent to one of the two supply depots, where volunteers assemble, verify and pack the kits so that they can be sent where they are needed most.

Through the International Development unit, UMCOR transforms and strengthens global communities via long-term recovery following disasters and the transition into sustainable development. With a focus on food security and sustainable agriculture; economic and social development; and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programs, UMCOR accompanies beneficiaries as they become thriving individuals, families and communities. In order to achieve this mission, UMCOR works through it numerous field offices, Methodist churches and other local and international partners.
